The Water Voles at Afton Marsh have been incredibly difficult to see, although Water Voles being followed on other blogs seem to be a lot more visible. I put the trailcam out on the marsh last night close to one of the colonies.
I thought I'd hit paydirt when I saw the start of this clip a few minutes before 9pm, but my enthusiasm was dampened when a Brown Rat made its way down the run. Bad news - I hadn't realised the Brown Rats were this far up the river.
In fact, the only Vole that was picked up was this Bank Vole. I'm assuming it was the same one that spent most of the night and the following day enjoying the feast I'd laid on! :-)
